This site tells the stories behind things, and it asks readers to trust that those stories have been checked. So it should be clear how the site itself is made.
Who writes and decides
Every article is written and signed by The Taste Storyteller, who chooses the subjects, decides what each article argues and approves the final text. When an article weighs competing claims and favors one, that is the author’s judgment, and it is offered as judgment.
Sources
Facts, dates and quotations come from sources you can check: historical records and the scholars who study them, museums and archives, reference works and established publications. Each article lists its sources at the end with the date they were checked. Where the evidence is limited or disputed, the article says so. Where a story belongs more to legend than to record, it is labeled as legend.
How AI tools are used
The same rules apply to the books and to this site.
- Ideas and structure are the author’s. What each article covers, what it argues and how it is organized are decided by the author.
- AI may help find leads, never facts. Research tools may suggest where to look. Nothing is published because a tool said it; every fact is read in its original source first.
- AI may flag, the author corrects. Tools may be used to spot typos, repetition or inconsistencies. The corrections themselves are made by the author, who answers for every word.
- Illustrations are made with AI image tools.
Corrections
History is revised as new evidence appears, and articles are updated when it does. If you find an error, write to [email protected]. Errors of fact are corrected promptly, and significant corrections are noted in the article.
Economic interests
This site is free to read. The author’s books are mentioned on the site, and their sales support the work. We may also have economic interests in some of the books, products and services mentioned, for example through affiliate links or commercial agreements. Those interests do not decide what we write: opinions are formed independently, and the evidence is weighed the same way whoever benefits. This page is our standing disclosure of those interests.
